The five modalities included

  1. Modality 1

    Flexion-distraction (Leander cable table)

Mechanical decompression for the lumbar spine. The table moves the lower body in a controlled rhythm while Dr. Foudy works the spinal segments by hand. Excellent for facet irritation, mild disc issues, and pre-decompression conditioning.

  2. Modality 2

    Intersegmental traction / spinellator

Rollers under the spine that loosen the segments before the adjustment. Most patients find this the most relaxing part of the visit.

  3. Modality 3

    Industrial spring vibration platform

Whole-body vibration for circulation, lymphatic flow, and muscle activation. 5 minutes pre-adjustment primes the soft tissue.

  4. Modality 4

    Electric stim and Theragun

Targeted muscle work. Electric stim for chronic trigger points and stubborn knots. Theragun for the deeper trap and glute work.

  5. Modality 5

    Saunders neck traction

Specifically for cervical radiculopathy (arm pain and numbness). Gentle, gravity-assisted cervical decompression unit.

The adjustment itself

The case decides the technique. A 24-year-old with an acute facet jam gets a different adjustment than a 72-year-old with osteoporosis. And it is not just spines. Hands, feet, wrists, ankles, elbows, knees, shoulders, hips, ribs, and the jaw can all be adjusted when the exam calls for it.

The six techniques Dr. Foudy works with

37 years of practice means a deep toolbox. Dr. Foudy is trained in six named techniques and picks the right one for your spine, not the one he happens to like.

  • Diversified

The classic hands-on adjustment. Specific, controlled, and the one most patients picture when they think of chiropractic.

  • Sacral Occipital Technique

Wedge-shaped pelvic blocks let gravity do the correcting. Gentle enough for patients who cannot tolerate a manual adjustment.

  • Cervical Traction

Gravity-assisted decompression for the neck. The go-to for cervical disc cases and numbness running down the arm.

  • Thompson Drop Table

A segmented table with drop pieces that assist the adjustment, so less force gets the same correction.

  • Cox Flexion/Distraction

A slow, rhythmic stretch-and-release of the lumbar spine on the cable table. The disc patient workhorse.

  • Activator Method

A handheld instrument that delivers a precise, low-force impulse. The answer for nervous patients, kids, and osteoporosis cases.

Patients of all ages

Dr. Foudy sees patients of all ages, from kids to great-grandparents. The gentler techniques (Activator, Sacral Occipital blocking, drop table) mean there is an appropriate adjustment for every spine in the family.

Common questions

What does a chiropractic adjustment actually feel like?
Most patients describe it as a quick, controlled pressure followed by relief. Some joints make a pop (gas release from the joint capsule, not a bone). It is not painful when done correctly. If you are nervous, Dr. Foudy can use the Activator instrument instead of a manual adjustment.
How much does an adjustment cost?
A standard follow-up adjustment visit at Foudy Chiropractic is $90 and includes the modalities, the stretching, and the adjustment itself. There are no surprise add-ons.
How often will I need to come in?
Depends on the case. Acute episodes usually run 2x/week for 2 to 3 weeks. Corrective programs run 3x/week for 4 to 6 weeks then taper. Maintenance is once a month or once a quarter for most patients.
Will the adjustment hurt?
No. The adjustment is precise and controlled. The soreness, if any, comes from the joints moving for the first time in a while. It usually settles within 24 hours.
Do you adjust kids?
Yes, with parental presence and consent. Pediatric adjustments are gentler and shorter than adult adjustments.
